Will watching martial arts instruction videos help prepare me for martial arts lessons Since I won’t have time?

to take martial arts lessons for another few months?

Like all intellectual and theoretical preparation, they will give you a headstart but is not complete in themselves without the actual course work done.

When the instructor tells you to do something, you will have a much higher chance of success if you had spent an hour or two watching someone else do it. That’s just simply time efficiency when it comes to humans learning skills.

Some things, however, people fail at even when they have seen it done a thousand times. Videos will not help enlighten you on passing those road blocks.

Btw, co-pilots and pilots in training are often just sitting there watching as the instructor pilots the plane. That’s because not everything in training is actual hands on, and when it comes to real hands on, not simulation, the instructor is basically going to have the student WATCH demonstrations. So if you spend 10 minutes watching a move done in the dojo, you might as well have saved that time before hand watching it so that you have higher performance using your dojo mat time.

Real life isn’t as simple as people would like you to believe, and often times simplification is just basically wrong. Crucial details were perhaps left out. It doesn’t tell the whole story and it won’t help you grasp what’s really going on.
