The crime rate has risen to record levels with burglaries, rapes, home invasions, kidnapping, we can go on and on.  It’s time to get yourself and your loved one’s a self defense weapon for protection.  Not only for their personal use but you should also consider for home use as well.  Preparation is a key component in self protection and can help save your life.   

While many choose to carry a firearm or already have a gun in the home, let’s face it, this method is dangerous and lethal.  Now for some that doesn’t mean much and it’s definitely a personal choice, for others this simply is not an option.  You have to take into consideration with firearms that in the event your would-be attacker manages to confiscate the gun from you, you are as good as dead.  This is something you need to think about while choosing a weapon.  For those of you who choose to take the less-lethal method you might want to consider purchasing yourself a stun gun. 

Stun guns aren’t the cure all however these devices will definitely take down your attacker.  Most models, especially the Stun Master brand come with a wrist band to wear while carrying your weapon.  This wrist band will prevent the gun from working when the stun gun is detached from it.  This in itself is a great feature.  If the burglar could take the stun gun from you it will not work.   It’s a good idea to have weaponry that de-mobilizes the attacker, but will not cause permanent harm.  

Stun guns disrupt the body by producing a high-voltage electrical charge with low amperage. The stun guns charge applies a lot of pressure but a small amount of intensity. The charge can pass through thick clothing and skin.  Its charge is not severe enough to do damage to the attacker’s body unless it is applied for prolonged periods of time.

A stun gun can confuse the criminal by conveying mixed signals to the brain.  He then can become temporarily or somewhat paralyzed, bewildered and unbalanced. This can give you or a family member enough time to get away to safety and contact the police.

Don’t take on more than you can handle, use the stun gun for your defense for your life or the lives of your family members. Then, get away as quickly as possible.

You can purchase a stun gun according to its voltage level.  These wonder devices range from 20,000 volts all the way up to about 4.5 million volts! Most stun guns operate on 9-volt batteries with some having a built-in charger which allows you to plug in for charging as you would your cell phone.   

Prior to purchasing stun guns or any self defense weapon make sure you check with your local and state laws for legalities.  Think about which type you may want to carry.  These devices come in many styles, sizes and voltage levels.  It’s a personal choice and you may want to consider your needs, where you are carrying, do you want it in a holster?  Maybe you want to carry it in your pocket?  How about your purse?  Only you can make a decision on which style you need.   

Carrying a self defense weapon of any means is a responsibility.  If you should decide to purchase you and/or a loved one a weapon please take the time to learn it, practice with it, if you want to carry it in a holster I suggest you practice taking it in and out of the holster.  You want to be totally comfortable with its use and quick to the draw.  Always remember, if you don’t carry it, it can’t help you.
